Port Stephens Bridge Holiday

19 to 22 September 2017

Beautiful and unspoilt, Port Stephens is a wonderful holiday destination with sparkling waterways, glorious beaches and national parks. It is only a two-and-a-half-hour drive north of Sydney.

The Anchorage is a first-class boutique hotel located right on the waterfront at Port Stephens. We will be playing bridge looking out over the hotel’s marina where dolphins often gather.

The bridge holiday includes:
♠ Three nights luxury accommodation with breakfast each day
♥ Five bridge sessions
♦ Two intermediate bridge lessons
♣ Dinner at the Galley Restaurant on Thursday 21 September

The Holiday Program

The holiday is suitable for players of all standards with friendly duplicate sessions and fascinating intermediate lessons. You can play as much or as little as you wish and you can turn up to any session without a partner and have a game. There is time to participate in the bridge program and also enjoy Port Stephens’ glorious scenery.

The program commences on Tuesday 19 September with a duplicate at 2 pm. There are afternoon duplicates on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, an evening duplicate on Thursday and a morning duplicate on Friday. Masterpoints and prizes will be awarded in all duplicates.

For players who wish to improve their skills, there will be fascinating intermediate lessons on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

The holiday includes a dinner at the hotel’s Galley Kitchen Restaurant on Thursday 21 September. On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings you have the opportunity to try some of Port Stephens’ famous seafood at one of the excellent local restaurants.

The Anchorage

Over the last few years the Anchorage has undergone a six-million-dollar renovation and the resort’s eighty rooms and suites are now elegantly decorated in coastal Hamptons style. In 2016 the hotel won the prestigious Luxury Guest House Australia category at the World Luxury Hotel Awards.

All rooms in our booking are spacious Anchorage Rooms with great views over the marina, Corlette Beach and Port Stephens. All rooms have individual airconditioning, an ensuite with walk-in shower, minibar, a smart TV with cable channels, internet access, hair dryer, and tea and coffee making facilities.

The hotel’s Galley Kitchen offers all-day dining with indoor and outdoor seating. Other hotel facilities include Hemingways Bar with a great choice of whiskys, a heated outdoor swimming pool and a number of guest lounges. The hotel also has a luxury spa featuring BABOR cosmetic products.

Around Port Stephens

There are many nearby attractions to tempt you away from the bridge table. You can swim or wander along white-sand Corlette Beach next door to the Anchorage. A few minutes drive away are magnificent beaches, boutique wineries, a craft brewery, olive and macadamia farms, fresh seafood outlets and an oyster farm. You may like to walk up Tomaree Headland to enjoy the spectacular views or try one of the many easy local bushwalks. Nearby historic sights include convict- built Tanilba House and Nelson Head Inner Light Lighthouse with its café and tearooms. Worth visiting is Tilligerry Peninsula to see the koalas as well as the aquarium at Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters. You can take a four- wheel-drive tour through the fascinating Stockton Bight Sand Dunes.

The whale-watching season runs from June to November and in Nelson Bay there is a number of cruise operators offering dolphin and whale cruises. The Anchorage’s reception will book cruises and also offers a sunset sail experience on a luxury yacht departing the hotel’s marina.

There are plenty of sporting options for those looking for outdoor activities. Golfers have the choice of four courses including the 27-hole layout at Nelson Bay Golf Club, Pacific Dunes Golf Club at Medowie and Horizons Golf Resort at Salamander Bay. The local bowling clubs welcome visitors and there are quality tennis courts for hire.

If you would like to shop there is a string of small townships with galleries and specialty shops to explore, including Nelson Bay, Salamander Bay, Shoal Bay, Fingal Bay, Anna Bay and Soldiers Point.
