Around the Blue Mountains
There are many beautiful sights in the Blue Mountains to tempt you away from the bridge table. Lilianfels is right at Echo Point where there are magnificent views over the Three Sisters and the Blue Mountains National Park with its forests, waterfalls and towering cliffs. The Visitors Information Centre at Echo Point can provide maps for the many easy walks along the escarpment. Those who are more active can walk down the 860 steps of the Giant Staircase to the valley floor where there are many more walking trails.
A short drive away is Scenic World with the Skyway and Cableway cable cars and its famous Scenic Railway, the steepest railway in the world, that descends to the valley floor. Other attractions close by include Everglades Historic House and Garden with its tearooms and extensive gardens laid out in the 1930s by Danish-born landscape designer Paul Sorenson, and the Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum at Faulconbridge. You may wish to drive a little further and visit Mount Tomah Botanic Garden, the Zig Zag Railway or Jenolan Caves.
There is plenty of shopping nearby with galleries, boutiques, gift and antique shops a few minutes away at Katoomba and Leura. There are also interesting shops and galleries a little further on at Medlow Bath, Blackheath and Mount Victoria.
The hotel’s concierge can also suggest attractions to visit and will book a round of golf at a nearby course.
You may just want to take it easy, breathe in the fresh mountain air and relax in Lilianfels’ beautiful gardens, or go swimming in the heated indoor and outdoor pools, or have a treatment in the luxurious spa.
